The Palo Escopeta municipal trash dump again started to burn at approx. 3 a.m. The offshore winds once again blew black, toxic smoke through the communities of Los Zacatitos and Playa Tortuga. Municipal dump manager, Miguel Perez was contacted by telephone at approx. 6 a.m. and advised of the situation. Immediate action was taken by a Zacatitos resident who worked the entire day with municipal employees on heavy machinery in order to extinguish the fire before it became any worse. At approx. 2 pm. the fire was 70% contained.
